A generated song can already contain a strong composition and arrangement, but its stereo export may still need controlled bass, a more stable vocal position, better instrumental definition, smoother treble, and safer final peaks.

Mastering works on the finished stereo file. It can reshape tonal balance, control movement, add moderate harmonic density, adjust stereo presentation, and manage final peaks. It cannot independently replace a poorly chosen vocal, rewrite the arrangement, remove every artifact, separate instruments perfectly, or restore information that is no longer present.
The best source is a clean export that is not already heavily clipped. When several generations are available, choose the version with the best performance, arrangement, and vocal character before thinking about loudness.

Do not drive the mastering chain from an unnecessarily hot source. MaSonKuPik uses Smart Headroom to estimate a suitable file pre-gain before the EQ, compressor, color, width, and limiter stages. This reduces the chance that every later processor reacts too aggressively.
Listen at a moderate level. If the mix is muddy, the answer is not always “less bass.” Mud can come from low-mid buildup, overlapping vocal body, reverb density, or a bass element with too much sustain. Make small changes and return to bypass frequently.
For a thin source, add musical bass weight rather than large amounts of deep sub. Very low energy can consume headroom while remaining weak on phones, laptops, and small speakers.
A vocal can feel distant because it lacks body, because presence is covered by instruments, or because stereo material around it is too dominant. Use tonal balance and width together. Increasing upper-mid presence alone may make consonants and synthetic textures harsh while the vocal still feels disconnected.
MaSonKuPik protects the center when widening the sides, but the amount of width should still match the source. A dense chorus may need less width mix than a spacious intro.
Glue compression should make the track feel more connected, not visibly breathe on every kick. Listen for the vocal and cymbals moving down after bass hits. If that happens, reduce the amount of compression or the level entering the dynamics stage.
Harmonic color can create body, edge, or air at low levels. It should support the song's existing identity. Too much color can blur transients, exaggerate sibilance, and make different genres sound artificially similar.
Fresh treble is a balance between definition and fatigue. Evaluate the 6–10 kHz region carefully because hats, vocal consonants, synthetic noise, and bright ambience can accumulate there. Air above that region may sound attractive, but it does not automatically repair harshness below it.
Listen quietly and at normal level. Harshness that appears only when the song is loud may still indicate too much limiting or high-frequency density rather than insufficient EQ.
The limiter is the final safety and level stage, not the main tone control. If the mix loses punch, the vocal pumps, or cymbals become gritty, reduce the level feeding the limiter. A slightly quieter master that remains open and stable is often more useful than a louder file with audible damage.
A processed master is usually louder, and louder playback can be mistaken for better quality. Use bypass for normal impact checking, then enable Gain Match when you want to compare tonal balance, clarity, width, and dynamics at a more similar perceived level.
Keep a 24-bit WAV master for archiving and later distribution. High-bitrate MP3 is useful for quick sharing, but it should not be the only retained master. After export, open the new file in a separate player and verify the beginning, loudest section, ending, duration, and absence of clicks.
